Radiohead – winning the interwebs!

As we all know, over the last few days the legends that are Radiohead have been playing massive mind games with us, starting by completely erasing their internet presence and subsequently posting little hints and clues, culminating today in a new song/video called ‘Burn The Witch’.

Whilst this blog is primarily for unsigned bands and artists, we had to give a nod to the band for successfully keeping us all enthralled (marketing at its best!) and impatient for more.

Well played Radiohead, well played.

Birdeatsbaby – Muscle Museum

Birdeatsbaby are seriously talented. Dark, haunting and emotional, their own songs are full of spark and beauty.

Their cover of Muse’s ‘Muscle Museum’ simply has to be shared. Listen to it. Then listen to it again.

And when you’ve done that, check out their songs on YouTube (We recommend their track ‘Drinking in the Day’ in particular and their new track ‘Baby Steps’). Birdeatsbaby YouTube channel

Alternative, dark cabaret punk at its finest.

Wolves At The Door – Forgiveness

Wolves At The Door – Forgiveness

At RoarFm, we do love a bit of Wolves At The Door (we reviewed their ‘121212’ track last year which you can find here: https://roarfm.wordpress.com/2013/04/22/wolves-at-the-door-121212/) and we are delighted to be able to bring you a cheeky review of ‘Forgiveness’ (which sadly never made it onto the EP)!

This tune is instantly appealing and the lyrics are beautifully crafted and delivered with real passion. There is a hint of Bowie-meets-Buzzcocks in this tune but Wolves At The Door definitely have a style of their own. Dan Martin’s vocals are powerful and his searing vibrato builds up the intensity of the emotion in the chorus.

These guys are seriously tight. The beefy rhythm section packs a punch, energetically driving the track and adding texture with changing beats. ‘Forgiveness’ is immensely addictive and Wolves At The Door are exploding onto the music scene. The only question is ‘Are You Ready?’

Hybrid.9 – ‘Hidden Inside’ EP (with the addition of a cheeky acoustic vid of Soul On Fire)

Hybrid.9 are a rock band that have exploded out of their hometown of Crewe and have begun to take the country by storm. We have recently been lucky enough to get a sneak peak at their new EP and it is simply awesome.

The first track ‘Absolved’ kicks in with a punchy rhythm that smacks you in the face making you sit up and take notice of these guys. Bolshy, powerful and laced with hooky guitar riffs, it is a superb opener. (And being absolute suckers for guitar harmonies, we have to give them props there too!)

Track two ‘Hidden Inside’ is the title track and its not difficult to see why – the opening riff draws you in, the fiery, dynamic rhythm inserts itself into your brain along with the catchy (yet raw and angry) vocals and the guitar solo is, quite frankly, the icing on the cake. Or the P90s on the Gibson.

The final offering on the EP is ‘Walking After You’ – it’s always difficult to select a ‘last’ song but these guys know what they’re doing and this track does not disappoint. The vocal melody is haunting and the music literally pulsates in its intensity and switches gears between full on forceful rock and a slower, more melodic guitar. This is an immense track which leaves the listener aching for more.

Hybrid.9 have an edgy sound that is entirely their own with a flavour of the classic Metal & Rock giants. These guys mean serious business and have the talent to back it up. You need them in your life.

Keep an eye out for the new tunes and in the meantime check them out here!

Press to MECO – Family Ties

So Press to MECO are back with another huge tune!

Fast-paced, energetic and hits you from the word go, if this track doesn’t get you vogue-ing then nothing will. Ok, maybe not vogue-ing but there’s definitely room for a bit of a mosh!

The video has premiered on Kerrang! and next up the guys will be back performing at Redfest – they are definitely making waves so keep an eye out for them!

O Rappa – Mar de Gente

Ok, so we’re usually all about the small, unsigned bands but this is too good not to share…

O Rappa is a Brazilian Rock/Reggae/Funk band that have been steadily making waves in the industry since 1993 – and now it’s time to bring a little bit of Brazil to the UK!

Filled with rich beats, catchy bass lines and edgy vocals, their songs are beautifully crafted. The rhythmic pulse gets inside your head and when you crank up the volume, there is no way you’ll resist dancing… or at least bopping a limb.

The language barrier doesn’t mean a thang, these guys are immense – go check them out!

ReVerbed – Uncommonwealth

This new offering from ReVerbed is raucous, punchy and everything you’d expect to hear from this stellar band.

These guys have been working hard and it has paid off – They have had airplay on BBC Introducing and were nominated for Kerrang’s Best British Newcomer.

Definitely one to watch!
