Hybrid.9 – ‘Hidden Inside’ EP (with the addition of a cheeky acoustic vid of Soul On Fire)

Hybrid.9 are a rock band that have exploded out of their hometown of Crewe and have begun to take the country by storm. We have recently been lucky enough to get a sneak peak at their new EP and it is simply awesome.

The first track ‘Absolved’ kicks in with a punchy rhythm that smacks you in the face making you sit up and take notice of these guys. Bolshy, powerful and laced with hooky guitar riffs, it is a superb opener. (And being absolute suckers for guitar harmonies, we have to give them props there too!)

Track two ‘Hidden Inside’ is the title track and its not difficult to see why – the opening riff draws you in, the fiery, dynamic rhythm inserts itself into your brain along with the catchy (yet raw and angry) vocals and the guitar solo is, quite frankly, the icing on the cake. Or the P90s on the Gibson.

The final offering on the EP is ‘Walking After You’ – it’s always difficult to select a ‘last’ song but these guys know what they’re doing and this track does not disappoint. The vocal melody is haunting and the music literally pulsates in its intensity and switches gears between full on forceful rock and a slower, more melodic guitar. This is an immense track which leaves the listener aching for more.

Hybrid.9 have an edgy sound that is entirely their own with a flavour of the classic Metal & Rock giants. These guys mean serious business and have the talent to back it up. You need them in your life.

Keep an eye out for the new tunes and in the meantime check them out here!

Mrs Miller – Strangers in the Night

Ok, so this blog is primarily for spreading the word of aspiring, unsigned bands that are making waves in the music scene. However, just once in a while, it’s nice to delve into the past and find a spiffy little gem.

Such a gem was presented to me by a friend who described what I was about to hear as ‘the most interesting version of Strangers in the Night you have never heard.’

And fine people, this musical delight must be shared. Enjoy.

Press to MECO – Family Ties

So Press to MECO are back with another huge tune!

Fast-paced, energetic and hits you from the word go, if this track doesn’t get you vogue-ing then nothing will. Ok, maybe not vogue-ing but there’s definitely room for a bit of a mosh!

The video has premiered on Kerrang! and next up the guys will be back performing at Redfest – they are definitely making waves so keep an eye out for them!

Bitter Ruin – Love Gone Left

So Bitter Ruin are back with their new single from the album ‘Waves’ and it is killer!

Georgia’s Intense, emotive vocals and lyrics interweave effortlessly with Ben’s powerful guitar. Melodic genius at its finest.

These two know who they are as artists and they want the world to hear it – they are currently gigging in London and Brighton and tickets are on sale now – check out their site for more info! http://www.bitterruin.com/

O Rappa – Mar de Gente

Ok, so we’re usually all about the small, unsigned bands but this is too good not to share…

O Rappa is a Brazilian Rock/Reggae/Funk band that have been steadily making waves in the industry since 1993 – and now it’s time to bring a little bit of Brazil to the UK!

Filled with rich beats, catchy bass lines and edgy vocals, their songs are beautifully crafted. The rhythmic pulse gets inside your head and when you crank up the volume, there is no way you’ll resist dancing… or at least bopping a limb.

The language barrier doesn’t mean a thang, these guys are immense – go check them out!

ReVerbed – Uncommonwealth

This new offering from ReVerbed is raucous, punchy and everything you’d expect to hear from this stellar band.

These guys have been working hard and it has paid off – They have had airplay on BBC Introducing and were nominated for Kerrang’s Best British Newcomer.

Definitely one to watch!

Bitter Ruin – Trust

Intense, emotive and with vocals that shatter your mind into a million pieces, Bitter Ruin are shaking up the music industry with their indie-noir sound.

An acoustic duo hailing from Brighton (and managed by the awesome Matt Lucas), these guys have supported artists such as Ben Folds and Amanda Palmer – and really held their own.

With strong, angry guitar and dramatic vocal inflections, their stage presence is as formidable as their songs and their creativity and passion spills out in waves.

Don’t try to resist them…they won’t let you.
